Crossing over and then crossing back again. For me, the pandemic has been filled with a plethora of emotions that range from rage to grief to euphoria. Rites of passage were muted and needed rituals were dampened, if used at all.

Professional singers and speakers and divers are some of those individuals who have learnt how to breathe deeply and to achieve good breath control. They don’t take breathing for granted.

‘A word out of your mouth may seem of no account, but it can accomplish nearly anything—or destroy it! It only takes a spark to set off a forest fire. A careless or wrongly placed word out of your mouth can do that.

God transforming the heart of a human being is certainly a miracle that we can’t understand. ‘Conversion is a change of heart, a turning from unrighteousness to righteousness.

Calming the storm with the power of a Creator? Walking on the sea? Isn’t that indeed, a crossing over on the other side, a paradigm of other layers and dimensions, crossing the law of physics?

Jesus shared this with a woman from an estranged social group after deliberately travelling to cross paths with her. Digital platforms too can reach physically unavailable people and places.

With all the obstacles and tests such change can bring, God is encouraging us to trust Him by placing our hands in His and crossing over to the other side (Mark 4:35) where we will experience peace.

Crossing over – a sinless Jesus mingling with the sin-ridden people. Crossing over – living a life that involved suffering, hurt and pain. Crossing over – loving the unlovely, healing the broken, caring for the dying.

Now that we have come out of the pandemic, we need to cross over to face new challenges. We need to cross over to a transformational experience with Christ as we prepare for His second advent.
